INTRO TO DRAWING

In Professor Phillia Yi’s rigorous introductory drawing course, I entered a disciplined framework for seeing and translating form. Working almost exclusively in charcoal, I learned to build values, perspective, and compositional hierarchy through sustained still-life studies. Objects, drapery, and space became a laboratory for investigating depth without relying on line alone—constructing layered planes, calibrating tonal shifts, and orchestrating movement across the page.
Within this structure, the drawings become more than exercises; they chart an early training in vision itself—how perception and material converge to produce an image.
