In this studio we traced “afterpower” landscapes—from the Niger Delta’s oil fields to pipelines, spills, and refineries—using timelines, maps, and photographs to understand how extraction shapes geology, ecologies, and communities. We learned to read images as evidence at multiple scales, from satellite views to on-the-ground portraits of contamination and resistance. Building on that research, we designed wearable counter-devices that treat the body as a vulnerable site within these systems, then staged hybrid performance images combining motion, photography, and analytic line drawing. Together, the class linked research, representation, and speculative design as tools for environmental justice in architecture and everyday life.
